Wanna Be Butter Chicken

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound chicken thighs (skinless and boneless cut into small pieces)

  • 1 onion finely chopped

  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger and garlic

  • 1 tsp of cumin seeds

  • 2-4 large cardomoms (I forgot to add this in my recipe but these will give an amazing flavor)

  • 1 cup of plain yogurt

  • 4 tablespoons of tomato paste

  • 2 tsp of coriander powder

  • 1 tsp of kashmiri red chili powder

  • 1 tsp of garam masala

  • 1 tablespoon of kasoori methi

  • 1/2 tsp of honey

  • 2 tablespoons of neutral oil

  • Cilantro for garnish

Who doesn’t love butter chicken?? I think I could eat it every day, so, in order to satisfy my cravings for butter chicken, I came up with a wanna be butter chicken recipe which is a faster and healthier version of the original dish.

  1. Blend the yogurt and tomato paste in a nutri bullet and set it aside
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds
  3. Once they start to splatter, add onions and cook for 5-7 minutes till they are golden brown
  4. Add ginger and garlic and cook for 2 minutes
  5. Add the yogurt and tomato paste sauce, salt, kashmiri red chili powder, and coriander powder, mix really well and cook for a few minutes till the color changes to orange
  6. Add chicken, mix well, cook on low flame with the lid closed for 10-12 minutes
  7. Half way through, add the kasoori methi, and honey
  8. Once cooked, garnish with cilantro
