Mathris are a perfect tea time snack and they taste even better with achaar (pickle). Traditionally these beauties are deep fried are slightly bigger in size, but I decided to give them my spin by making them into bite size pieces and air frying them. Healthy, vegan, and a delicious snack!
- Knead your dough with maida, ghee, salt, Ajwain and water as needed. I used Ninja Food Processor (special blade for kneading dough)
- You want to knead the dough till it is soft
- Cover the dough with a damp paper towel and set it to rest for 15-20 minutes
- Take a large ball of dough, roll it out and using a cookie cutter, cut it into your desired size and shape
- With a fork pierce holes in the mathri so that they don’t rise during cooking
- Using a pastry brush, coat the mathris with a little oil
- Place them in the air fryer and cook for 4
- Minutes on each side at 400 degrees (timing will depend on your airfryer)
- The mathris should be golden brown in color
- Enjoy with pickle and a cup of tea!
