INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup paneer cut into cubes.

  • 1 tablespoon of fresh garlic paste

  • 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger paste

  • 1 cup of Tomato sauce

  • 2 tablespoons of Tomato paste

  • 2 tablespoons of water

  • 1 bell pepper (any color) cut into cubes

  • 1 large red onion cut into cubes

  • 1 tsp of cumin seeds

  • 1 tsp of Kashmiri red chili powder

  • 1 tsp of coriander powder

  • 1 tsp of cumin powder

  • 1 tsp of garam masala

  • 1 green chili finely chopped (optional)

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 tablespoon for crushed Kasuri Methi (Fenugreek leaves)

  • 2 tablespoons of oil

Kadai Paneer is an Indian vegetarian dish cooked with cottage cheese (paneer), tomatoes and bell peppers and a blend of aromatic Indian spices. This is one of the most popular dishes in North India and you will find it on every restaurant’s menu. Here is my spin on this flavorsome recipe for the festive season!

Cilantro to garnish Method:

  1. Prepare your tomato sauce by blending the tomato sauce, tomato puree and water in an
    electric blender and set aside
  2. Heat the oil in a skillet
  3. Once heated, add cumin seeds
  4. Let them start popping, add then add ginger and garlic paste and green chili. Be careful not to burn the garlic paste
  5. After a quick mix, add onions and bell peppers. Mix well. Add salt to speed up the cooking process and cook with the lid closed for 7-10 minutes stirring occasionallyOnce the onions and bell peppers are tender, add the tomato sauce you made earlier, and
  6. Mix well
  7. Add Kashmiri red chili powder
  8. Add cumin powder
  9. Add coriander powder
  10. Add some cilantro
  11. Let this cook with the lid closed for at least 10-12 minutes on low flame checking in occasionally
  12. Once the masala starts to leave oil, add your paneer
  13. Add the Kasuri Methi
  14. Add garam masala
  15. Cook for another 5 minutes on low flame with the lid closed or till the paneer is soft
  16. Garnish with cilantro and enjoy!
