Keema is a traditional indian dish made with minced lamb, peas and potatoes but I have opted to use minced turkey in this recipe to keep things healthy and skipped the peas and potatoes. This dish can be used in lettuce wrap, non vegetarian pau bhaji, stuffed paranthas or naans (i make paranthas with leftover keema) or just enjoy it with rice, salad or roti.
METHOD
- Add the tomato and tomato paste in a blender and blend it with a dash of water and set aside
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds
- When they start to splatter add onions and cook till golden brown and then add ginger and garlic
- Cook for 1 minute and then add the minced turkey and cook till the turkey is half cooked and has a nice brown color on it
- Add the tomato puree with all the masalas (minus garam masala) and mix well and cook for 5 minutes
- Add water and let the keema cook on low flame with the lid closed for 10 minutes
- Add garam masala and garnish with cilantro
- Enjoy!
