About Me
Born in Iran to parents of Indian descent and having resided in London for a decade before moving to the US in 1996, I pride myself on having a unique upbringing, a melange of cultured perspectives and a great deal of diverse life experiences. Raised in a Sikh household fueled by age-old family traditions that almost always involved food, I grew up helping my mom, aunts and grandmothers whip up tasty delights in the kitchen. I like to think of myself as a multi-national global ambassador of delectable goodies crafted with care to tastefully combine the past with the present. I have no borders. I have no boundaries. The limits of my culinary prowess are completely unrestricted.
Swaadish By Neelma started in 2018 as a food blog to teach people about simple homemade Punjabi cooking. The food blog was loved by everyone as all the recipes were easy, delicious and came together in under 30 minutes. Fast forward to 2021, we got hit with the pandemic, and I started baking a lot, experimenting with our South Asian flavors, and that is how I launched my dessert business.
Through my desserts, you can feed cravings for sweetness by treating yourself to homemade desserts in indulgent flavors inspired by a kaleidoscope of South Asian cuisines. Baked fresh using family recipes, these gourmet goodies show reverence to my Indian roots and pay homage to my birthplace of Iran. All of my batters are carefully and meticulously blended with love using aromatic herbs, rare spices and pure premium grade extracts. Cleaner, healthier and more flavorful than the baked goods you’re likely accustomed to, these naturally vegetarian desserts demonstrate the unspoiled beauties of imported organic ingredients in their purest form, including pistachio, almond, rosewater and the widely coveted comforts of chai masala.
